KETTERING KEEP EBIGBO OUT OF ACTION PDF Print E-mail

Former Golden Eaglets striker, Pascal Chijioke Ebigbo will have to be up and doing in the coming days, after finding out that he will not have a stroll into the starting line up of English Conference League side, Kettering Town.

Against all expectations, John Mikel Obi's team mate at the Finland 2003 u-17 World Cup was left on Kettering's bench for 90 minters of last weekend's 2-0 victory against visiting Grays Athletic.

With Kettering comporting themselves and winning handsomely with Ebigbo left warming the benhch, the onus will now be on the former Puma Boys and AS Racines of Lagos as well as FC Ebedie of Shagamu youngster to make hay in the coming days.

Ebigbo will now seek a new development, as   Kettering kept the pressure on the teams above them in the play-off race with a comfortable win over relegation-threatened Grays.

The Poppies took an early lead when defender Ian Roper found the back of the net with a close-range volley.

Kettering doubled their advantage just before half-time when James Jennings headed in John Dempster's cross.

The visitors' only noteworthy chance came in injury time when Alex Rhodes' effort hit keeper Nathan Abbey.

However, in the wake of the encounter, Ebigbo’s coach, Lee Harper was apparently not satisfied with the result and hinted at the need to shuffle his attack and get better fire power ahead of the next game.

"We really should have been four or five up. We'll take the victory, it was a solid performance and a clean sheet, so we're pleased.

"It's been five months (without a win at home) but we haven't played that many games. So a good result today,” said Harper, leaving a glimmer of hope that Ebigbo could get to start the next game.
